An unexpected sadness tore gently at the edges of my soul like waves lapping at a sandcastle wall when I read the title on Forbes:
AI Is Not Going To Replace Writers Anytime Soon — But The Future Might Be Closer Than You Think
Writing.
The solid reflection of our human voice.
With all its pain and joy, hope and despair, hatred and love captured in solid form — now in jeopardy by a future we’ve created.
All that it means to be a human is reflected in these letters we writers splash across our pages.
Writers like us have the power within us to change the world with the stroke of our keys and we feel that power.
A subtle but potent mix of hope and wonder embraces our souls and compels us to write.
Most of what we write will fade into the obscure mountain of ones and zeros tucked into a long-forgotten server or shoved into a shoebox never to be read again.
But there’s always that chance that something we write will kiss someone’s soul and live with them and become part of who they are.
