I’m not talking about the current increased division spawned by social media. That is a temporary explosion that accompanies every clash of people such as war. This is sort of a digital war that will eventually settle into a state of less intensity like all other clashes. I’m talking about the overall arc of human progress from subjugation, slavery, war, chaos, and ethnic cleansing which marked all of human history to a world that though it still has a million problems, but generally is better than it was and it’s getting better. It’s not going “downhill” in the total human picture but “uphill”. You seem to suggest the inevitable apex of our species is imposed will and subjugation. I suggest the end is something better, freer, and more equitable based on our increasing realization that there can be something better if we learn to both control for our human nature (laws for crime) and honor it (laws for freedom). Not just laws now, a higher conscience as a species based on exactly what’s happening low, the increase in shared perspectives and understanding.

Also you mentioned ‘familiarity breeds contempt’. This isn’t always true. I hold no contempt for even those in around 100% of my life. Familiarity, when mixed with love and respect and self-awareness can definitely breed understanding. Sure people constantly around can irritate you but only you can let the turn to contempt.

I read some of your other stuff by the way. You are a hell of a thinker and I appreciate your mind.

Anyway, thanks again for the comment.
